What: North Carolina Coastal Conference

Many communities from central North Carolina to the coast found their resilience tested in 2018.

Make plans now to join North Carolina Sea Grant, our researchers and partners from across the state to discuss a range of critical issues, including:

Weather, storms and climate
Community and ecosystem health
Fisheries and aquaculture
Planning and economics

Conference attendees can choose from fifteen different presentations of various lengths. The four main themes include Water Resources, Education and Learning Perspectives, Coastal Economic Development, and Research Updates from the NC Sentinel Site Cooperative. The sessions conclude with a Panel Q&A.

3:00 PM Break

3:15 PM Concurrent Session II
Over a dozen presentations cover Community Preparedness and Resilience, Species Science and Aquaculture, Gullah/Geechee Resiliency: Traditional Knowledge Education, and Research Updates from the NC Sentinel Site Cooperative. The sessions conclude with a Panel Q&A.

Eleven presentations address Adaptations to Changing Conditions, Estuarine Ecosystems, and The Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership: Ecological Flows, Water Resources, and Water Availability in the Coastal Plain. In addition, 10 lightning talks cover a wide range of other cutting-edge topics. The sessions conclude with a Panel Q&A.

11:45 AM Networking Lunch and Poster Awards

1:15 PM Concurrent Session IV
Content and formats include four presentations on Marsh Interface: Edges of Land and Water, four presentations on Post-Storm Assessments, three roundtables on Investing in the Blue Economy through Sustainable Tourism, and a full-session workshop on The Value of Wetlands to Communities.

Advance registration is closed. A limited number of walk-up registrations might be available at the event, depending on space.

1-day regular registration: $175
2-day student registration: $75 (no change from early rate)
