My name is Scott Baker and I am a fisheries specialist with North Carolina Sea Grant. I&#8217;m based in Wilmington at the University of North Carolina Wilmington Center for Marine Science.<\/p>\n<p>I help the commercial and recreational fishing communities understand and apply the latest in fisheries management, research and technology.<\/p>\n<p>For this blog, I hope to write about some of my current projects and activities including<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Developing a webinar series to replace the N.C. Marine Recreational Fisheries Forum,<\/li>\n<li>Partnering with N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries to educate commercial fishermen about fisheries observing, and<\/li>\n<li>Highlighting results from a constant stream of fisheries research and education projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I\u2019m originally from Washington, N.C., and hold a master&#8217;s in oceanography and coastal sciences from Louisiana State University and a bachelor&#8217;s in biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining Sea Grant in 2003, I worked as a research associate at Louisiana State University on all things red snapper.
