Posted December 22, 2014<\/em><\/p>\n If you are a North Carolina-based graduate student, check out four state and national fellowships available through North Carolina Sea Grant. Don\u2019t let these opportunities pass you by.<\/p>\n North Carolina Sea Grant and the North Carolina Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve are offering North Carolina-based graduate students an opportunity to conduct research within the 10 sites of the North Carolina Coastal Reserve. The fellowship provides an annual salary of $10,000. Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m., Jan. 9, 2015<\/strong>. Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n This two-year national fellowship provides professional, on-the-job education and training opportunities in coastal resource management and policy for postgraduate students. In 2015, fellows will be placed in agencies, similar to the N.C. Division of Coastal Management, in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Northern Mariana Islands, Oregon and Puerto Rico. The fellowship starts in August 2015 and offers an annual salary of $34,000, along with health insurance, worker\u2019s compensation, relocation reimbursement and travel reimbursement. Applications must be received by 5 p.m., Jan. 23, 2015<\/strong>. Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n This national opportunity is open to U.S. citizens who are doctoral students in academic institutions in the United States and its territories, with a focus on population and ecosystem dynamics and stock assessment, or marine resource economics. Each fellow will be assigned a mentor from NOAA Fisheries who will serve on the fellow\u2019s committee, and provide access to research data sources and to NOAA Fisheries working\/laboratory space. Fellows will receive $43,500 in annual stipends. Funding begins in Aug. 1, 2015. Applications must be received by 5 p.m., Jan. 29, 2015<\/strong>. Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n This national opportunity is offered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration\u2019s National Sea Grant College Program. This one-year fellowship places graduate students in Washington, D.C., to work on federal policies and processes affecting ocean, coastal and Great Lakes issues. Recipients will receive a total maximum stipend of $56,500. Reimbursement for health insurance, work-related travel and relocation expenses also are provided. The placement starts on Feb. 1, 2016, and cannot be renewed or deferred. Applications must be received by 5 p.m., Feb. 13, 2015<\/strong>.
