Science Festival website<\/a>\u00a0for links to local events and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ncsciencefestival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Facebook page (opens in a new tab)\">Facebook page<\/a>\u00a0for updates.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>BY KATELYN VAUSE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From Kill Devil Hills to Boone, stargazers of all ages will lift their eyes to the skies as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsciencefestival.org\/starparty\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">N.C. Science Festival<\/a>\u2019s statewide Star Party on April 12 and 13. The theme this year, \u201cThe Moon and Beyond,\u201d will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong\u2019s \u201cgiant leap for mankind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of events are hosted by community partners who invite the public to study the night skies under the guidance of professionals and volunteers. <a href=\"https:\/\/ncspacegrant.ncsu.edu\/2018\/04\/20\/anyone-out-there-north-carolina-asks-during-annual-star-parties\/\">North Carolina Space Grant<\/a> co-sponsors the Star Parties.<\/p>\n<p>An event on Saturday, April 13,<strong> at Pettigrew State Park \u00a0has been cancelled<\/strong> in light of expected storms. <a href=\"https:\/\/atimeforscience.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A Time for Science<\/a> will announce a new date soon. The NC Space Grant team, North Carolina Sea Grant and the William R. Kenan Jr. Institute for Engineering, Technology and Science had been particularly excited about that event. When rescheduled, it will be the third in a series of outreach events in a <a href=\"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/funding-opps\/grants\/other-opps\/community-collaborative-research-grant-program\/\">Community Collaborative Research Grant<\/a> project funded by the three programs. Earlier events were at Bertie County Middle School in March and at Jennette&#8217;s Pier in Nags Head in February. The night skies CCRG project is led by Stan Riggs, a coastal geologist from East Carolina University who now leads the N.C.
