Research shows that nearly 3% of adults in our country are allergic to shellfish.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Food allergies can be difficult to understand and manage. I speak from experience. Our son is allergic to eggs, peanuts and cashews. At my house, all food labels must be read, and care must be taken when going out to eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As a fisheries scientist, luckily I\u2019m not allergic to finfish or shellfish \u2014 but, unfortunately, I know people who are, even other fisheries scientists.<\/p>\n\n\n\nResearch Need<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
