Fully preheat the broiler unless the oven manufacturer recommends differently. If your broiler has a temperature setting, turn it to 550 F. Leave the oven door open or closed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
If you shuck the oysters, save the bottom half of the shell to serve these as an appetizer or simply serve on a platter.
Pat oysters dry. Add salt and pepper to melted margarine. Dip each oyster in margarine, then in eggs, then in bread crumbs. Broil about 4 inches from heat until golden brown on one side, about 5 minutes. Turn and repeat on other side. Serves 8 to 10.
