{"id":11445,"date":"2022-11-03T09:00:58","date_gmt":"2022-11-03T13:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/mariners-menu\/?p=11445"},"modified":"2023-12-18T17:30:54","modified_gmt":"2023-12-18T22:30:54","slug":"easy-crab-imperial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/mariners-menu\/easy-crab-imperial\/","title":{"rendered":"Easy Crab Imperial"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recipe<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 pound backfin crabmeat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd cup skim milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd tablespoon unsalted butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc cup liquid egg substitute or 1 egg, lightly beaten<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd teaspoon dry mustard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u215b teaspoon cayenne pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u215b teaspoon freshly ground black pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 teaspoons minced celery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd tablespoon fresh lemon juice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc teaspoon Worcestershire sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tablespoons reduced-calorie mayonnaise<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon skim milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>paprika<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Preheat the oven to 400\u00b0 F.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a small saucepan, heat \u00bd cup of milk to boiling point. In a medium saucepan, melt butter; stir in flour. Pour heated milk into the flour mixture, beating until smooth and creamy. Let cool. Add egg, seasonings, celery, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce and 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise; blend well. Add crabmeat and mix well, but gently. Fill individual and lightly greased shells or ramekins. Mix the remaining tablespoon of mayonnaise with the tablespoon of milk and brush over tops. Sprinkle with paprika.
