{"id":14385,"date":"2024-01-11T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-11T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/mariners-menu\/?p=14385"},"modified":"2025-06-19T08:45:49","modified_gmt":"2025-06-19T12:45:49","slug":"golden-fried-shrimp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/mariners-menu\/golden-fried-shrimp\/","title":{"rendered":"Golden-Fried Shrimp"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recipe<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 cup flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd cup yellow cornmeal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd teaspoon freshly ground black pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd teaspoon garlic powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc teaspoon cayenne pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd teaspoon baking powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 eggs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd cup light cream<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc teaspoon Tabasco sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>vegetable oil for frying<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Preheat deep fryer to 375\u00b0 F.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a medium bowl, blend flour, cornmeal, salt, pepper, garlic powder, cayenne and baking powder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a separate medium bowl, beat eggs. Add cream, lemon juice, Worcestershire and Tabasco. Mix well. Dip shrimp in liquid mixture, then dredge in dry ingredients. Deep fry in hot oil, until golden brown about 2 to 3 minutes or until done.
