{"id":7824,"date":"2016-12-05T07:00:17","date_gmt":"2016-12-05T12:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/mariners-menu\/?p=7824"},"modified":"2023-12-19T11:19:58","modified_gmt":"2023-12-19T16:19:58","slug":"fish-and-shrimp-casserole","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/mariners-menu\/fish-and-shrimp-casserole\/","title":{"rendered":"Fish and Shrimp Casserole"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recipe<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 cup flaked fish<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd pound cooked small shrimp<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc cup butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc cup flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 cups milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2154 cup sliced fresh mushrooms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00be teaspoon chopped green bell pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc cup chopped green onion, including tops<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc cup chopped black olives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00be teaspoon chopped pimento<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 cups freshly grated mild cheddar cheese<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Preheat the oven to 350\u00b0 F.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Blend in flour. Stirring constantly, add milk gradually and continue until sauce is smooth and thick. Add salt, mushrooms, green pepper, onion, olives, pimento and Worcestershire. Mix well. Gently stir in fish flakes, shrimp and \u2153 cup of cheese. Continue cooking over low heat until cheese is melted. Place in greased, medium shallow casserole. Sprinkle top with remaining cheese.
