These plants are essential for creating landscapes that are beautiful, maintainable, cost-efficient, and environmentally beneficial. Gloria Putnam, North Carolina Sea Grant\u2019s coastal resources and communities specialist, and the Coastal Landscapes Initiative\u2019s team selected a dozen plants that are naturally adapted to thrive in the harsh conditions of the North Carolina coast \u2014 the strong sun and wind, the dry, sandy soil, and the salty air and water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
