Contact:<\/em> North Carolina Sea Grant\u2019s research projects and fellowships address current and emerging marine, coastal and watershed issues. Five opportunities have application deadlines in coming weeks.<\/p>\n \u201cOur research programs consider a spectrum of topics important to North Carolina and to our funding partners at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Our fellowships train current graduate students to become next-generation researchers and policy experts,\u201d says John Fear, Sea Grant deputy director.<\/p>\n Below are the deadlines for the five open programs. Check each link for specific deadline times.<\/strong><\/p>\n Jan. 19, 2018:<\/strong> The NOAA Coastal Management\/Digital Coast Fellowship<\/a> provides on-the-job education and training opportunities for postgraduate students in coastal resource management and policy. This two-year program matches successful applicants with state coastal zone programs and NOAA partners to work on selected projects.<\/p>\n Jan. 26, 2018:<\/strong> The National Sea Grant\/NOAA Fisheries Graduate Fellowship<\/a>\u00a0is for doctoral students in population and ecosystem dynamics, and in marine resource economics. The fellowships last for three and two years, respectively.<\/p>\n Feb. 12, 2018:<\/strong> The North Carolina Community Collaborative Research Grant Program<\/a> couples the knowledge of community stakeholders with academic experts to address priority coastal issues. North Carolina Sea Grant partners with the William R. Kenan Jr. Institute for Engineering, Technology and Science<\/a>, based at North Carolina State University, to fund the program.<\/p>\n Feb. 23, 2018:<\/strong> The Dean John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship<\/a> seeks graduate students who are interested in national policy issues affecting ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources. Successful applicants are matched with hosts within the executive and legislative branches of government in the Washington, D.C. area.<\/p>\n
