{"id":10422,"date":"2018-08-29T08:57:25","date_gmt":"2018-08-29T12:57:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/news\/?p=10422"},"modified":"2018-08-29T08:57:25","modified_gmt":"2018-08-29T12:57:25","slug":"new-communicator-joins-nc-sea-grant-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/new-communicator-joins-nc-sea-grant-team\/","title":{"rendered":"New Communicator Joins NC Sea Grant Team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lee Cannon has joined\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">North Carolina Sea Grant<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> communications team, where she will focus on collaborations with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wrri.ncsu.edu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Water Resources Research Institute<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ncspacegrant.ncsu.edu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">North Carolina Space Grant.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cannon began her communications career in Washington, D.C., where she spent time at the Embassy of Japan, the Smithsonian Institution and arts and education nonprofits. She holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in English literature and writing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master\u2019s degree in creative writing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As the communicator for WRRI and Space Grant, Cannon works with the respective program colleagues, scientific researchers and community partners. For WRRI, that includes sharing impacts of water-focused research with water managers and the public. For NC Space Grant, Cannon promotes aeronautics and STEM education in order to equip the aerospace workforce with a diverse talent base.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As part of her efforts to quickly inform scientists, students, practitioners and the public about pertinent research and opportunities, Cannon has expanded the programs\u2019 social media presence to include new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ncwrri\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Facebook<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/nc-wrri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">LinkedIn<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">pages for WRRI and a public <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/nasa-north-carolina-space-grant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">LinkedIn<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> presence for NC Space Grant. These round out the current portfolio of WRRI\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NC_WRRI\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Twitter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> account and NC Space Grant\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NCSpaceGrant\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Facebook<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ncspacegrant\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Twitter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ncspacegrant\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Instagram<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> accounts.
