FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/strong><\/p>\n Contact: The North Carolina Sentinel Site Cooperative<\/a> and North Carolina Sea Grant<\/a> are accepting applications for a joint graduate fellowship for research that must occur in the cooperative\u2019s geography, which includes 22 counties.<\/p>\n The one-year project must focus on one of the sea level rise and\/or inundation topics outlined in the detailed request for fellowship proposals that Sea Grant has posted on its website.<\/p>\n \u201cOur cooperative covers a diverse array of North Carolina coastal habitats and communities, including low-lying marsh ecosystems, barrier islands, the urban center of Wilmington, and many rural communities and small coastal towns,\u201d explains Sarah Spiegler, coordinator for the cooperative.<\/p>\n Graduate students in good academic standing attending an accredited N.C. college or university may propose projects of up to $9,999 to meet needs identified within the cooperative\u2019s implementation plan.<\/p>\n The national Sea Grant and Sentinel Site<\/a> networks each receive funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.<\/p>\n Proposals must include an outreach\/dissemination plan and comprehensive methods to evaluate the success of the project. The student\u2019s major professor must agree to manage the fellowship funding.<\/p>\n Application materials must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2019<\/strong>.
