{"id":11365,"date":"2019-07-24T21:35:18","date_gmt":"2019-07-25T01:35:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/news\/?p=11365"},"modified":"2023-10-03T12:36:13","modified_gmt":"2023-10-03T16:36:13","slug":"north-carolina-sea-grant-opens-minigrant-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/north-carolina-sea-grant-opens-minigrant-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"North Carolina Sea Grant Opens Minigrant Applications"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n<p>North Carolina Sea Grant has re-established its minigrant program that often allows researchers to pilot test new lines of inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur minigrants usually lead to great returns on investment, with recipients often able to leverage funding and expand their Sea Grant-funded work into larger studies,\u201d says John Fear, North Carolina Sea Grant\u2019s deputy director. \u201cThese projects have a great tradition of supporting student research \u2014 and of creating meaningful impacts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Minigrants are processed on a rolling basis, as they are received. The new application process has two changes from previous cycles. Researchers now submit online proposals, a change that will streamline and improve the submission process, as well as reporting of those impacts. Also, projects can now be less than $10,000, rather than the previous limit of $5,000. Projects still must support the program&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1BW4o3c8Kcx-X2nbN5q7r_4lYtpqdS1Dp\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">strategic plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>North Carolina Sea Grant is a part of the National Sea Grant College Program in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Interested applicants should contact <a href=\"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/about-us\/our-team\/john-fear\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John Fear<\/a> at <a href=\"mailto:jmfear@ncsu.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">jmfear@ncsu.edu<\/a> or 919-515-9104.
