In order to provide more support for high-potential projects, the programs are now offering a single $20,000 fellowship. The selected project will address a high-priority research need within North Carolina\u2019s nearshore environs, coastal areas and watersheds.<\/p>\n<p>The fellowship will use data from vast archives and remote-sensing capabilities available through the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), federal funding partners for the two N.C. programs.<\/p>\n<p>Successful proposals will adeptly utilize relevant measurement instruments and\/or remote-sensing data sources from NASA, NOAA or other sources that can include, but are not limited to, radiometers, spectroradiometers, satellite sensors, LIDAR, aerial imagery and other data collected from airplanes, unmanned aerial vehicles and\/or unpiloted submersibles in the execution of the proposed work.<\/p>\n<p>The joint North Carolina Sea Grant \u2013 North Carolina Space Grant Graduate Research Fellowship Program offers funding for interdisciplinary proposals from across the state. Each applicant must be a full-time, enrolled graduate student at an accredited college or university within North Carolina and a citizen of the United States.<\/p>\n<p>A faculty mentor must supervise the proposed research. The start date is flexible, but must be after June 1, 2020. All work must be completed by May 30, 2021.
