Due date for proposal submission is <\/span><b>Dec. 4, 2023.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cNorth Carolina Sea Grant is pleased to offer this opportunity for the research community to directly connect with agencies that manage critical natural resources in our coastal region and related watersheds,\u201d says John Fear, deputy director. \u201cWe encourage submissions from researchers across the state, including those at Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority-Serving Institutions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The focus areas this year include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Blue crab<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Oysters<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Other Shellfish (scallops, clams, shrimp)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Habitat<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The full request for proposals identifies specific topics for each focus area. It is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/north-carolina-sea-grant-research-opportunity-for-resource-management-needs\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">available on the NC Sea Grant website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Proposals must be for one-year projects, with budgets up to $60,000 in grant funds. Projects will be funded with state dollars, which do not allow indirect costs to be charged. Matching funds are not required but are encouraged, especially for full-budget request proposals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Proposals must include a hypothesis-based research question and a strong outreach\/extension component.
