This honor highlights exceptional efforts in many areas of publications.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1984\" src=\"\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/apex14.jpg\" alt=\"Apex Award Logo\" width=\"233\" height=\"242\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This year, <em>Coastwatch<\/em> was recognized in three categories. They are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Green Magazines, Journals &amp; Tabloids: <a title=\"Coastwatch Winter 2014\" href=\"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/coastwatch\/previous-issues\/2014-2\/winter-2014\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Coastwatch<\/em> Winter 2014<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>Magazine, Journal &amp; Tabloid Writing: <a title=\"Coastwatch Holiday 2013\" href=\"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/coastwatch\/previous-issues\/2013-2\/holiday-2013\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Coastwatch<\/em> Holiday 2013<\/a>, and<\/li>\n<li>Green Writing: <a title=\"Home in an Oyster Shell\" href=\"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/coastwatch\/previous-issues\/2014-2\/winter-2014\/home-in-an-oyster-shell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cHome in an Oyster Shell\u201d<\/a> by E-Ching Lee in <a title=\"Coastwatch Winter 2014\" href=\"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/coastwatch\/previous-issues\/2014-2\/winter-2014\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Coastwatch<\/em> Winter 2014<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud that these national awards confirm that <em>Coastwatch<\/em> continues its tradition of excellence,\u201d notes <a title=\"Susan White\" href=\"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/about-us\/our-team\/susan-white\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Susan White<\/a>, North Carolina Sea Grant executive director. \u201cThe writing awards cite the ability of our writers and contributors to explain complicated topics in terms that varied audiences can understand. The green award reflects the overall contribution of the magazine and its value well beyond North Carolina.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Sea Grant communications team is headed by director Katie Mosher, and includes Sandra Harris, circulations manager; E-Ching Lee, managing editor; Rhett Register, science writer\/editor; and Pam Smith, writer\/editor.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Mariner's Menu\" href=\"http:\/\/marinersmenu.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Mariner\u2019s Menu<\/em><\/a> blogger Vanda Lewis, interns Devika Banerji, Morgan Jones and Chelsea Pierce, and several freelancers also contributed to the winning issues.
