Photo by Teri O&#8217;Meara.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>North Carolina Sea Grant and the North Carolina Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve are accepting applications for the 2015 Coastal Reserve Fellowship.<\/p>\n<p>The fellowship provides North Carolina-based graduate students with an opportunity to conduct research within the 10 sites of the North Carolina Coastal Reserve. Fellows must conduct research that addresses coastal management issues in one, or more, of the following focus areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Linkages between coastal ecology and eutrophication.<\/li>\n<li>Resilience of coastal communities and habitats to coastal hazards.<\/li>\n<li>Susceptibility of coastal ecosystems to invasive species.<\/li>\n<li>Socioeconomic analysis of coastal ecosystem services, and sustainable seafood.<\/li>\n<li>Conservation, management and restoration of coastal habitats.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Application materials, including a three-page research project proposal, should be sent to Research Coordinator Brandon Puckett at <a href=\"mailto:brandon.puckett@ncdenr.gov\">brandon.puckett@ncdenr.gov<\/a>. Applications must be submitted by <strong>4 p.m., Jan. 9, 2015<\/strong>. A letter of support from the applicant\u2019s major professor, who will serve as principal investigator for the project, must also be included.<\/p>\n<p>The North Carolina Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve is a program of the N.C. Division of Coastal Management in the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
