North Carolina Sea Grant is looking for a new member for its award-winning communications team.<\/p>\n

The science writer\/editor will use a variety of media to share information developed through Sea Grant\u2019s research and outreach on myriad topics related to North Carolina\u2019s coastal ecosystems and economies. Duties include, but are not limited to, writing for Coastwatch<\/em> magazine and www.ncseagrant.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The communications team also works with the program management team, extension specialists, researchers, and agency and community partners to develop a range of products, including newsletters, blog posts, consumer information products and educational materials, in print, online and video formats. Applicants also should be adept in developing engaging social media posts, as well as descriptive summaries of impacts and other results of funded projects.<\/p>\n

Listed as a midcareer or “journey” level at NC State University, the position is based in Raleigh, with some travel required.<\/p>\n

A federal-state partnership, North Carolina Sea Grant provides research, education and outreach opportunities relating to current issues affecting the North Carolina coast and its communities. Since 1970, the program has been a valuable resource in the state for scientists, educators, local officials, government agencies, coastal businesses and the public to find unbiased, scientifically sound information about the state\u2019s coastal ecosystems. The program works with all campuses of the University of North Carolina system and all institutes of higher education in the state. The program is part of the National Sea Grant network, with funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the state of North Carolina.<\/p>\n
