Graduate students have a real-world challenge to tell the story of their research.<\/p>\n

North Carolina Sea Grant<\/a> is hosting a symposium on April 6 and 7 in New Bern to help them identify and improve communications skills for a variety of settings.\"Word<\/p>\n

Conveying Your Message<\/a> is the theme for the program at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. The event is free. Registration is required, with limited seats available.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to offer this symposium not only for students funded by North Carolina Sea Grant but also for graduate students across the state,\u201d notes John Fear<\/a>, deputy director.<\/p>\n

The program opens\u00a0April 6,\u00a0with an afternoon plenary and training session before a poster reception.\u00a0April 7\u00a0is a full day looking at communication strategies, audiences and avenues.<\/p>\n

Speakers include documentarian Art Howard, as well as Holly Menninger, who leads public science efforts in the NC State University College of Sciences. Session topics include:<\/p>\n
