FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/strong><\/p>\n Contact: Posted Friday, Sept. 2, 2016<\/em><\/p>\n Lindsey Smart and Seth Theuerkauf are recipients of graduate research fellowships offered jointly by North Carolina Sea Grant<\/a> and North Carolina Space Grant<\/a>.<\/p>\n The fellowship, inaugurated this year, offers graduate students across the state support for research within North Carolina\u2019s nearshore environs and coastal watersheds. Their research projects will use relevant measurement instruments and\/or remote-sensing data sources from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration<\/a>, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration<\/a>, or other data sources.<\/p>\n \u201cInitiating new funding opportunities for students \u2014 and new partnerships \u2014 is a highlight for our program. I look forward to the results from both of these new projects,\u201d says John Fear, Sea Grant deputy director.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a great opportunity for both Sea Grant and Space Grant to partner and support student research that addresses missions important to both organizations \u2014 and to our sponsors, NASA and NOAA,\u201d adds Chris Brown, director of North Carolina Space Grant, based at North Carolina State University.<\/p>\n
