{"id":9169,"date":"2017-01-05T13:48:17","date_gmt":"2017-01-05T18:48:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/news\/?p=9169"},"modified":"2017-01-05T13:48:17","modified_gmt":"2017-01-05T18:48:17","slug":"student-poster-abstracts-sought-for-nc-coastal-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/student-poster-abstracts-sought-for-nc-coastal-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Poster Abstracts Sought for NC Coastal Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/h3>\n<p><em>Contact:<br \/>\nJohn Fear, 919-515-9104, <a href=\"mailto:jmfear@ncsu.edu\">jmfear@ncsu.edu<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Updated Feb. 28 with new deadline.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>North Carolina Sea Grant is seeking abstracts for a student poster competition for <a href=\"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/nc-coastal-conference\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North Carolina\u2019s Coastal Conference<\/a>, set for April 4 and 5 in Raleigh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will be a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their research and interact with diverse audiences,\u201d says John Fear, Sea Grant deputy director.<\/p>\n<p>Poster topics must fall within one of the conference focus areas. Awards are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First place: $200<\/li>\n<li>Second place: $150<\/li>\n<li>Third place: $100<\/li>\n<li>Honorable mention: $50<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Graduate students, or upper-class undergraduate students actively engaged in honors research, enrolled in North Carolina universities or colleges may apply.<\/p>\n<p>Entries will be prioritized based on relevance to the conference, representation from as many universities\/colleges as possible, and balance across conference focus areas.<\/p>\n<p>Abstracts must be submitted by <strong>5 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2017<\/strong>, using this <a href=\"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/ncseagrant_docs\/events\/coastal_conference\/2017\/2017_CC_poster_abstract_form.docx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">application form<\/a>, following these <a href=\"https:\/\/ncseagrant.ncsu.edu\/ncseagrant_docs\/events\/coastal_conference\/2017\/2017_CC_poster_abstract_instructions.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">instructions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact Fear at 919-515-9104 or <a href=\"mailto:jmfear@ncsu.edu\">jmfear@ncsu.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Limited travel support is available for students.
