Golden-Fried Shrimp

Recipe

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup light cream
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon Tabasco sauce
  • vegetable oil for frying

Preheat deep fryer to 375° F.

In a medium bowl, blend flour, cornmeal, salt, pepper, garlic powder, cayenne and baking powder.

In a separate medium bowl, beat eggs. Add cream, lemon juice, Worcestershire and Tabasco. Mix well. Dip shrimp in liquid mixture, then dredge in dry ingredients. Deep fry in hot oil, until golden brown about 2 to 3 minutes or until done. Drain on paper towels.
