Ultimate Crab Bake
Recipe
- 1 pound backfin crab meat
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ½ cup finely chop diced onion
- ¼ cup finely diced celery
- ½ cup bread crumbs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon dry mustard
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- ¾ cup bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Preheat the oven to 375° F.
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a skillet. Sauté onion and celery until tender. Add ½ cup bread crumbs, cream, cayenne, garlic powder, mustard, salt and egg. Mix well. Gently fold in crab meat, being careful not to break the meat apart.
Divide mixture between 6 lightly greased ramekins. Combine melted butter and ¾ cup of bread crumbs and sprinkle over ramekins. Bake for about 20 minutes, until lightly browned.
