Grilled Soft-Shell Crabs

Recipe

  • 8 to 12 soft-shell crabs, cleaned
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon Tabasco sauce

Preheat grill to medium-high.

In a small bowl, combine oil, parsley, lemon juice, nutmeg, soy sauce and Tabasco. Brush both sides of crabs with sauce. Place bottom down on grill. Cook until lightly browned, about 5 to 6 minutes. Turn and repeat, cooking until done.

DID YOU KNOW?

It will typically take up to two hours for a blue crab to shed its exoskeleton to then be considered a ‘soft-shelled’ crab.  Crabs even shed out of their old gills!
