Applications Open for 2017 NC Sea Grant/NC Coastal Reserve Fellowship

The North Carolina Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve joins North Carolina Sea Grant to open applications for a joint fellowship, with proposals due by 5 p.m., Nov. 21, 2016. The N.C. Coastal Research Fellowship provides North Carolina-based graduate students with an opportunity to conduct research within one or more of the 10 sites that constitute the Coastal Reserve. NC Sea Grant, Division of Marine Fisheries Sponsor Graduate Fellowship

North Carolina Sea Grant is accepting applications until Nov. 28 for the N.C. Marine Fisheries Fellowship for graduate students in natural resources or marine sciences. The fellowship is open to students nearing completion of, or who have recently completed, their advanced degree program at southeastern universities and colleges from Maryland to Texas. Fran Revisited, Salt Marsh Restoration, Local Watersheds Partnership Featured in Coastwatch

North Carolina Sea Grant's Autumn 2016 issue of Coastwatch magazine is now available. In this issue, Hurricane Fran is revisited to look at what North Carolina experts learned and what has changed in hurricane planning and response in the past two decades; read about fifth-graders at Beaufort Elementary School participating in a program to engage students in restoring salt marshes; and learn how digital story maps can share geographic data on oysters.
