Sign up for Shape of the Coast, a series of sessions that will focus on coastal law and policy in North Carolina. The event is set for Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill. It is part of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Law Festival of Legal Learning. Attorneys can receive CLE credit. Efforts Expand to Recover Lost Fishing Gear

Efforts to remove derelict crab pots and other lost fishing gear from coastal waters will expand statewide in 2017 thanks to funding from the North Carolina General Assembly, with North Carolina Sea Grant as the administrator of the new funding. The efforts by the North Carolina Coastal Federation and the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries are designed to improve habitat and water quality, as well as support coastal economies.
