North Carolina Sea Grant will host a federal Site Review Team convened by Leon Cammen, director of the National Sea Grant College Program.

The visit will be at North Carolina State University in Raleigh on Sept. 16 and 17.

The team of national experts will consider program management, stakeholder engagement and roles in collaborative networks, including engagement with various offices also funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The panel also will review public comments sent via email to oar.sg.feedback@noaa.gov by Sept. 9. North Carolina Sea Grant is a federal/state partnership that includes funding through the University of North Carolina system. In addition to the headquarters at NC State, the program has coastal offices at the UNC Coastal Studies Institute near Manteo, the NC State Center for Marine Sciences and Technology in Morehead City, and UNC Wilmington.

Through research, education and outreach initiatives, Sea Grant focuses on current issues affecting the North Carolina coast and its communities. Since 1970, the program has partnered with scientists, educators, local officials, government agencies, coastal businesses and the public to develop and share unbiased, scientifically sound information about the state’s coastal ecosystems.
