Four N.C. Graduate Students Among Knauss Finalists

The National Sea Grant Office today announced 66 finalists for the 2019 Dean John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship. Four of the finalists — Alicia M. Cheripka, Jill Hamilton, Chrissy Hayes and William Thaxton —  are from three North Carolina universities.

Model Forecasts Severe Hypoxia through August in Neuse Estuary

An experimental model — developed by a team that includes researchers at North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill — is forecasting levels of low dissolved oxygen this summer that will be worse than those normally in the Neuse River Estuary.

Fishman Named National Fellow

Sydney Fishman has been named a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Coastal Management/Digital Coast Fellow. She will work with the Washington Coastal Zone Management Program, focusing on coastline erosion on Washington’s Puget Sound.
