Save The Date: North Carolina’s Coastal Conference Set for April

Join North Carolina Sea Grant in 2017 for North Carolina’s Coastal Conference. The event will be held April 4 and 5 at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh. Experts from the fields of economics, transportation, energy, environment, industry and health will lead interdisciplinary sessions designed to bring together diverse perspectives. The program includes a networking reception on April 4 at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences’ Nature Research Center in Raleigh. Register for Shape of the Coast in February 2017

Sign up for Shape of the Coast, a series of sessions that will focus on coastal law and policy in North Carolina. The event is set for Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill. Efforts Expand to Recover Lost Fishing Gear

Efforts to remove derelict crab pots and other lost fishing gear from coastal waters will expand statewide in 2017 thanks to funding from the North Carolina General Assembly, with North Carolina Sea Grant as the administrator of the new funding. The efforts by the North Carolina Coastal Federation and the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries are designed to improve habitat and water quality, as well as support coastal economies.
