Research teams across the state recently have begun work on North Carolina Sea Grant’s new core projects. Scientists are applying innovative approaches to coastal resilience, climate change, flooding, disaster recovery, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, environmental literacy, and more.

National Sea Grant Partners with US Coastal Research Program 

North Carolina agencies, businesses and community partners interested in extending coastal research into applications are invited to submit topics to North Carolina Sea Grant to be considered for proposals to a new program funded by national Sea Grant and the U.S. Coastal Research Program (USCRP). Letters of Intent must be filed by NC Sea Grant by June 15.

Study: U.S. Flood Damage Risk Is Underestimated

Recent flood maps from the Federal Emergency Management Agency might not capture the full extent of flood risk, according to research by a team from NC State University. The study was supported by the U.S. Geological Survey Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center and North Carolina Sea Grant.
