NC Sea Grant Seeks 2019 NOAA Coastal Management Fellows

North Carolina Sea Grant is accepting applications for the 2019–2021 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Coastal Management Fellowship program.

The two-year fellowship provides professional, on-the-job education and training in coastal resource management and policy for postgraduate students.

Work starts Aug. 1, 2019, and offers an annual salary of $34,000. Fellows also will receive health insurance, worker’s compensation, relocation reimbursement and travel reimbursement.

Students completing a master’s, doctoral or professional degree in natural resource management or environmental-related studies between Jan. 1, 2018, and July 31, 2019, at an accredited college or university in North Carolina are eligible for nomination by North Carolina Sea Grant. United States citizenship is a requirement, and interest in state-level coastal issues is a must.

Applications through North Carolina Sea Grant must be completed by 5 p.m. Jan. 18, 2019, through the eSeaGrant portal: go.ncsu.edu/ncesg.

All applications must include:

• Resume or curriculum vitae (not to exceed two pages using 12-pt. font).
• Statement of the applicant’s goals with emphasis on what the applicant expects from and can contribute to the fellowship experience (500 words or fewer).
• Two letters of recommendation, including one from the applicant’s principal professor. If no
 principal professor exists, the faculty member who is most familiar with the applicant’s academic work may be substituted.
• Unofficial copies of all undergraduate and graduate student transcripts.

Successful applicants will be invited for face-to-face interviews Jan. 28 and 29, 2019, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Sea Grant can nominate up to three candidates to the NOAA Office of Coastal Management for final selection.
