NC Sea Grant Announces 2026-28 Core Research Projects

North Carolina Sea Grant recently awarded core funding to nine researchers from universities across the state. For two years, these researchers will apply innovative approaches to diverse coastal topics like barotrauma mitigation methods, shark depredation events, and land-use scenarios for coastal resilience, to name a few.

UNCW Student Team Wins Coastal Resilience Team Competition Funding

Students from the University of North Carolina Wilmington are winners of North Carolina Sea Grant’s Resilience Team Competition funding. This award provides up to $20,000 to conduct a two-year project that will lead to more resilient habitats and communities on North Carolina’s coastal plain.

StriperHub Receives National Funding to Enhance Production

North Carolina Sea Grant’s StriperHub is one of 33 projects receiving federal funding from the National Sea Grant College Program to support sustainable seafood through improved efficiency, output, and profitability of commercial aquaculture businesses.

Class of 2024 Knauss Fellows Begin Service

NOAA and the National Sea Grant Office have announced placements for the 2023 class of the Sea Grant John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship program. The fellows include six graduate students from North Carolina: Claudia Deeg, Nico Fairbairn, Mac Gagné, Sydney Mantell, Stephanie Murphy, and Aaron Ramus.
