Hurricane Hazel, SciREN, Rip Current Data Featured in Coastwatch

Hurricane Hazel made landfall 60 years ago, yet its fury remains fresh in many minds today. In the Autumn 2014 issue of Coastwatch, North Carolina Sea Grant’s flagship magazine, join Pam Smith as she travels back in time with several North Carolina residents who lived through the storm. In a related story, Smith talks with experts about changes in hurricane forecasting since Hazel, as they reiterate that being prepared for a storm still is key to being safe.
