Virtual Forum: Baseline Conditions and Success Rates of Natural and Nature-Based Features

December 14, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Join New York Sea Grant and the Science and Resilience Institute at Jamaica Bay in their second of three virtual forums. The primary goal of these forums is to address knowledge gaps Natural and Nature-Based Features (NNBF) stakeholders (researchers, policymakers, and practitioners) have identified in a recent workshop pertaining to the implementation and management of Nature Based Solutions in New York State. It was found that baseline conditions for the evaluation of NNBF projects, and success rates (and failures) of projects, were two of the primary knowledge gaps they experienced. To be one step closer to addressing these gaps, event organizers have invited experts in the field to present case studies from their own work, on how they’ve managed to tackle these problems. Be prepared for discussions on NNBF projects, networking, and plenty of time to ask questions and discuss with our experts.

Speakers: Dr. Bret Webb (University of South Alabama), Dr. Chester Zarnoch (CUNY Baruch), Dr. Mariko Polk (North Carolina Sea Grant), and Dr. Joel Fodrie (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill)
