North Carolina Sea Grant is accepting submissions for the 2019 North Carolina Coastal Conference. Abstracts must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2019.

Researchers and students, along with community, nonprofit and industry representatives are encouraged to submit proposals for coastal topic discussions. Proposal submissions can have various formats: oral presentation, poster presentation or an alternative presentation style.

Topics will include a range of critical issues relevant to North Carolina. Subjects can range from science and education to arts and humanities, incorporating both research and outreach. Topics can include but are not limited to:

  • weather, storms and climate;
  • community and ecosystem health;
  • fisheries and aquaculture;
  • planning and economics.

The Coastal Conference will take place Nov. 19 to 20 at Hotel Ballast in Wilmington.

“We look forward to receiving proposals reflecting a diverse range of research and perspectives, including rural and underserved communities,” notes Susan White, executive director of North Carolina Sea Grant.
