Dorian Brings a New Due Date for NC Coastal Conference Proposals: Sept. 13

UPDATE: As Hurricane Dorian approaches our coast, we’re extending the deadline to Sept. 13 to submit proposals to present at the 2019 North Carolina Coastal Conference. We value the insights and expertise of stakeholders, scholars and allies across fields, and we hope the additional time will enable anyone interested to submit their ideas. Details are below.

Submit a Presentation Proposal

Don’t miss your chance to deliver a presentation at the 2019 North Carolina Coastal Conference. The Sept. 13 deadline to submit proposals is quickly approaching for conference.

“We look forward to receiving proposals reflecting a diverse range of research and perspectives, including rural and underserved communities,” says Susan White, executive director of North Carolina Sea Grant.

The event will be Nov. 19 and 20 at the Hotel Ballast in downtown Wilmington.

Proposals are welcome from a wide range of potential speakers: community, nonprofit and industry representatives, people from local, state and federal agencies; and researchers and students. Topics can range from science or education to arts and humanities and may incorporate research and outreach impacts.

Formats can include a 15-minute talk with slides, a lightening talk of 5 to 7 minutes, or a poster. Conference organizers also will consider alternative formats.

Enter the Student Competition

University students are especially encouraged to submit proposals for the student poster competition. Cash prizes will include $200 for first place. At the event, each student will have the opportunity to give a short poster presentation to judges and then answer questions.

The deadline to submit poster proposals is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. Go to: go.ncsu.edu/ncesg.
