NC Sea Grant Seeks Science Writer/Editor

North Carolina Sea Grant is looking for a new member for its award-winning communications team. The science writer/editor will use a variety of media to share information developed through Sea Grant’s research and outreach on myriad topics related to North Carolina’s coastal ecosystems and economies. NCSG/APNEP Joint Fellow Announced

North Carolina Sea Grant and the Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership, or APNEP, have awarded the 2015 Graduate Fellowship in Estuarine Research to Liz Brown-Pickren. The fellowship provides funding for graduate students based in North Carolina and Virginia with an opportunity to conduct applied research within the North Carolina portion of the APNEP management boundary. New Publication Covers Tools, Risks Related toCoastal Hazards and Social Vulnerability

The North Carolina Coastal Resources, Law, Planning and Policy Center is offering a publication for local government officials whose communities are dealing with extreme weather events and increased flooding. The paper, titled “Mapping Coastal Risks and Social Vulnerability: Current Tools and Legal Risks,” outlines the available data sets for social vulnerability, their current and potential use, and the associated legal risks in using that information for adaptation planning.
