Graduate Student Funding Available Now for Ghost Forest Research

North Carolina Sea Grant and North Carolina Space Grant are offering a special joint funding opportunity for graduate student research on ghost forests. Full-time graduate students at colleges and universities in North Carolina are eligible to apply for the $10,000 award.

Madison Lytle and Andrew McMains will be the 2022 North Carolina Coastal Research Fellows. Their research will look at reduced water clarity’s influence on seagrass growth; and the effects of dredging on inlet-inhabiting fish, respectively.

Applications Now Open for 2022 NC Sea Grant/Space Grant Joint Graduate Fellowship

North Carolina’s Sea Grant and Space Grant programs are now accepting applications for a one-year Graduate Research Fellowships. This $10,000 fellowship will be awarded to one fellow, whose work addresses a high-priority research need within North Carolina’s coastal areas, watersheds and nearshore environment. Applications are due April 1.
