Registration is open for North Carolina Sea Grant’s popular “Introductory Fisheries Science for NC Fishers” training. Scott Baker and Sara Mirabilio, fisheries specialists with over 45 years of combined experience, will bring together state experts in new online lessons designed for saltwater anglers and members of our state's wild-capture and farm-raised seafood industry.

North Carolina Sea Grant has launched its second Coastal Resilience Team Competition. The program will provide up to $20,000 for one or more student teams to conduct two-year projects that will lead to more resilient habitats and communities on the North Carolina coastal plain.

NOAA’s National Sea Grant College Program and the U.S. Coastal Research Program (USCRP) are backing new work to protect North Carolina’s shorelines. A North Carolina Sea Grant collaboration with East Carolina University and Carteret Community College will develop a framework for coastal protection design and siting, as well as living shoreline training courses and a certification program.

North Carolina Sea Grant’s Community Collaborative Research Grant program is accepting proposals now through January 17, 2023 for projects to start in April 2023. The program brings communities and researchers together to address important coastal challenges and statewide water resource issues.
