National Sea Grant Partners with US Coastal Research Program

Contact: John Fear, jmfear@ncsu.edu

North Carolina agencies, businesses and community partners interested in extending coastal research into applications are invited to submit topics to North Carolina Sea Grant to be considered for proposals to a new program funded by national Sea Grant and the U.S. Coastal Research Program (USCRP)

“With the letters of intent due June 15, potential partners need to reach out to us right away,” notes John Fear, North Carolina Sea Grant deputy director. “Only Sea Grant programs may file the letters of intent and the final proposal applications, Thus potential partners must work with the state-based Sea Grant partners well in advance of the deadlines.”

“Proposals should address the needs or gaps that have been identified by or are evident from USCRP-funded projects, to move research project findings toward application through service delivery and decision support for coastal community decision-makers, planners, and other coastal stakeholders,” National Sea Grant explains in its announcement. “The following entities are encouraged to participate in this funding opportunity, in conjunction with a Sea Grant Program: any individual; any public or private corporation, partnership, or other association or entity (including any Sea Grant Program or other institution); or any State, political subdivision of a State, Tribal government or agency or officer thereof.”

An informational webinar about the funding opportunity will be provided by the National Sea Grant College Program on May 16, 2022 from 2-3 pm ET. Register in advance here.
