North Carolina Sea Grant extension specialists Terri Kirby Hathaway and Spencer Rogers were spotlighted by their peers for contributions to their respective fields.

Hathaway, Sea Grant’s marine education specialist, was profiled by the National Marine Educators Association for her 29 years of active membership. She began her career in marine education in 1985 at the N.C. Aquarium on Roanoke Island.

Rogers, Sea Grant coastal construction and erosion specialist, was featured by the National Sea Grant College Program during Rip Current Awareness Week, which is June 1 to 7 this year. This summer, Rogers plans to deploy data-logging sensors to track the paths of rip currents along North Carolina’s coast.
