The North Carolina Science Festival features over 350 statewide events during the month of April. Moviegoers will want to mark their calendars for the festival’s “Science in the Movies: Twisters, Tremblors, Sharknadoes, and Other Natural Disasters” at 7 p.m. on April 18 at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.

A panel of experts, including Jessica Whitehead — coastal communities hazards adaptation specialist at North Carolina Sea Grant — will discuss Hollywood portrayals of natural disasters. Panelists will show a collection of movie clips that are frightening, fantastic, funny and far-fetched, then answer audience questions.

Science Communicators of North Carolina (SCONC) and the Duke Initiative for Science and Society are sponsoring Science at the Movies.
