Sea Grant’s Spencer Rogers Speaks on Hurricane Resistant Construction
Spencer Rogers, North Carolina Sea Grant’s coastal construction and erosion specialist, will present “Hurricane Resistant Construction: Fact or Fiction? (and how to get your insurance company to pay for it)” on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the UNC Wilmington Center for Marine Science auditorium. Rogers will explain best practices in storm-resistant construction and how to help offset costs.
For more than four decades, Rogers has helped property owners, builders, designers and governmental agencies to develop hurricane-resistant construction methods, understand shoreline erosion alternatives and implement marine construction techniques.
The event marks the second installment in the monthly Coastal Community Resiliency Seminar Series, which UNCW faculty members and others based at the university share expertise on current topics. The series is free and open to all.
