Study: U.S. Flood Damage Risk Is Underestimated

Recent flood maps from the Federal Emergency Management Agency might not capture the full extent of flood risk, according to research by a team from NC State University. The study was supported by the U.S. Geological Survey Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center and North Carolina Sea Grant.

Applications Now Open for 2022 NC Sea Grant/Space Grant Joint Graduate Fellowship

North Carolina’s Sea Grant and Space Grant programs are now accepting applications for a one-year Graduate Research Fellowships. This $10,000 fellowship will be awarded to one fellow, whose work addresses a high-priority research need within North Carolina’s coastal areas, watersheds and nearshore environment. Applications are due April 1.

Today, the Currituck Sound Coalition announced the release of a landmark Marsh Conservation Plan that identifies the complex web of threats facing Currituck Sound and offers a blueprint of how best to protect and restore this invaluable coastal ecosystem for wildlife and people.
